Officers with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to 293 calls for service during the week of Jan. 23-30, 2017. Among the calls were 1 marine incident, 1 minor in possession, 1 missing person, 1 report of property damage, 4 motor vehicle thefts, 2 noise complaints, 3 requests for patrol, 7 reports of found property, 4 robberies, 1 shooting complaint, 2 sex offenses, 7 reports of suspicious circumstances, 15 traffic collisions.

The incidents below are not all encompassing and represent a portion of incidents to which JCSO responded.

At about 9 a.m., Jan. 23, a Port Hadlock resident reported a string of mailboxes in the neighborhood had been opened and it appeared that mail had been removed. There is no suspect information. Residents are advised to be alert to any fraudulent activity regarding credit. A free credit check service is available at annualcreditreport.com.

A Kitsap County resident was stopped for a traffic violation in the Port Hadlock area at 8:11 p.m., Jan. 23. During the stop, the deputy determined the driver had a suspended driver’s license. During the investigation, the deputy located heroin and methamphetamine within the vehicle. The subject was booked into Jefferson County Jail.

At 12:05 a.m., Jan. 27, deputies noticed the driver of a vehicle acting suspiciously by making numerous sudden turns and driving in and out of dead-end streets. Deputies subsequently stopped the vehicle for speeding. While speaking with the driver, a passenger removed a hypodermic syringe from his pocket. The subject was arrested, and a warranted search was later completed on the vehicle, with recovered additional drug evidence. One of the subjects was booked into Jefferson County Jail for drug violation while charges against the driver were forwarded to the prosecutor.
