The Port Townsend Police Department responded to 181 calls for service between Feb. 16 and Feb. 22, including 3 911 calls, 5 general alarm calls, 3 reports of fraud, 1 noise complaint and 2 incidents of threats made.

Officers made 60 traffic stops. The following are some of the calls officers responded to:

Police arrested a woman at 11:10 p.m., Feb. 20 for driving under the influence near Sheridan Street. She was transported to jail.

Police stopped a woman for speeding on Kearney Street at 6:15 p.m., Feb. 18. The woman was traveling 40 mph in a 25-mph speed zone and accelerated to over 47 mph. The woman told the officer she knew the speed limit in the area. She was issued a notice of infraction.

At 6:45 p.m., Feb. 19, police responded to an area on Sims Way where a man was asking customers in front of a store for change to buy vodka. He began showing off by punching the concrete and injured his hand. Medics were called to evaluate his injury. The man was told he could not panhandle on private property, and he stated that he didn’t know that and left the area.

Police responded to an area in Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park at 8:10 a.m. on Feb. 18, when a fire in the area was reported. A person was seen leaving the vicinity of the fire, near the shelter in the park. The fire department was called to put the fire out, and the female subject was banned from the area for 90 days.

A woman contacted police at 3:10 p.m., Feb. 17 to report that she had responded to a phishing email with her Social Security number. The woman told police she had taken steps to prevent further fraudulent activity and just wanted the incident documented.
