There are nine more reasons to enjoy Olympic National Park next year. The park plans to offer free admission on nine days in 2015.

The scheduled 2015 entrance fee-free days are:

• Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

• Feb. 14-16, Presidents Day weekend

• April 18-19, National Park Week’s opening weekend

• Aug. 25, National Park Service’s 99th birthday

• Sept. 26, National Public Lands Day

• Nov. 11, Veterans Day

“Our public lands protect and preserve our most treasured and significant places for the American people,” said Superintendent Sarah Creachbaum. “Fee-free days offer an extra incentive to visit and discover this amazing place.”

Olympic National Park protects 922,651 acres encompassing three distinctly different ecosystems; glacier-capped mountains, more than 70 miles of Pacific coast, and magnificent stands of old-growth and temperate rain forest.

Usually, Olympic National Park has an entrance fee of $15 per car. On fee-free days, other park fees, including wilderness camping and campground fees, remain in effect.

A National Park Service (NPS) report issued in July of this year showed that in 2013, 3,085,340 visitors to Olympic National Park spent $245,894,100 in communities near the park. That spending supported 2,993 jobs in the local area.

This year’s visitation may exceed last year’s, with 2,949,254 recreation visits recorded through the end of Aug. 2014.
