Food, music, guided tours and, of course, boats set the mood for the Boat Fest and Sail-In May 30 at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding in Port Hadlock.
Instructors and students showed visitors around the shops, where projects were on display. This year, 67 students from around the globe are enrolled in the school's accredited, one-year program. Students learn traditional and contemporary wooden boatbuilding skills through an intensive 40-hour work week. The boat school class of 2015 graduates in September.
The sail-in was sponsored by Traditional Small Craft Association of Puget Sound, Port Townsend Pocket Yachters and the NWSWB.
"We wanted to resurrect (the event) as a nice community activity," said Bob Miller, an instructor with the NWSWB and member of all three sponsoring organizations.
Lobo Del Mar, an extended family that lives next to the boat school, performed a variety of world music and dance styles during the afternoon.
