Pope Resources announced it wants to get into the property development business, building and marketing another 400-800 homesites for what is termed the active mature adult, specifically the 50-62 age group. The 700 acres planned for the 10-year development is west and south of Port Ludlow Bay. The expansion is partially made possible because, after two years spent resolving environmental issues, Pope Resources has begun expansion of its overwhelmed and polluting sewage treatment plant.

Work began Dec. 21 on the McDonald’s restaurant site on Sims Way in Port Townsend.
