A 69-year old Port Hadlock man was in critical condition after a single-car accident Sunday morning on State Route 19, according to East Jefferson Fire Rescue (EJFR). There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
EFJR was called to the accident at 8:55 a.m. May 29 after witnesses saw a green Geo Metro traveling south on SR19 veer off the roadway just past the intersection with State Route 20. The vehicle struck a telephone pole, according to witnesses.
Bystanders began CPR on the man until emergency responders arrived and took over patient care.
Approximately 35 minutes later, the man’s pulse returned and the man was transported to Jefferson County International Airport to meet an Airlift Northwest helicopter and be flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, fire officials said in a press release.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident.
Engine 91 from Naval Magazine Indian Island assisted in the response.
The man's identify was not immediately available.
