JCCF to award $20,000 grant to climate change project

Posted

A local organization with a project or program that addresses climate change through concrete action could be awarded a two-year, $20,000 grant through the “GC3” Giving Circle of the Jefferson County Community Foundation (JCCF).

To be considered, a project must: demonstrate potential for partnerships; be original or significantly expand an ongoing project that is a longterm or continuing effort; provide clear community benefits; address systemic change at a local level; have the ability to attract additional resources; be endorsed by the organization’s leadership team and board of directors; have managers with appropriate relevant experience; and have realistic and measurable goals and results.

The GC3 Giving Circle has 9 members who each contributed to the grant’s fund. Members evaluate proposals against the above criteria.

“We are aware that climate change is a challenging issue, said Kris Morris, Giving Circle member. “However, we are confident that there are local nonprofit organizations that have the vision and talent to step up to that challenge.”

Proposals are available online at

jccfgives.org and are due on Tuesday, March 15.

The first year’s grant of $10,000 will be awarded in May and the second $10,000 the following year, dependent upon the first year’s results.

The Jefferson County Community Foundation hosts Giving Circles to encourage engaged local philanthropy and increase the number of active donors to worthy local causes. The Foundation is a nonprofit public charity established for the express purpose of providing services to donors, as well as to develop the ability of nonprofit members to more effectively and efficiently carry out their missions.
