More than 2,000 golf balls pour onto Monroe Street from behind a gate to start Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary Club's Running of the Balls just prior to the Grand Parade May 16. First place – Cathy Williams of Port Townsend – received a scooter. Second place – Kathy Francis of Port Townsend – received $500. More than 100 entries graced the streets of Port Townsend during the 80th Rhododendron Festival Grand Parade as spectators crowded sidewalks and lawns to watch floats, marching bands, classic cars and many wonderful entries.
