The second annual Port Townsend Artisan Food Festival, set for Memorial Day weekend, May 23-24, is hosted by the Port Townsend Farmers Market with Cedar Root Folk School and the Seattle-based Sasquatch Books as partners.
Tastings, classes, demos, readings, a three-course farm dinner and an all-day food tour are planned for the weekend.
The Port Townsend Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 23 in Uptown, and expands in front of the Port Townsend Community Center.
Inside the center, Cedar Root Folk School offers artisan food-making classes taught by Sasquatch Books’ food writers and some of Jefferson County’s award-winning producers.
From 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday evening, the food festival moves to Finnriver Farm and Cidery in Chimacum for an all-local dinner reception in the farm’s pavilion. Catered by Dan Ratigan of the Inn at Port Ludlow, the dinner features a three-course tasting menu.
With its theme of “Eat, Drink, Learn, Make,” the festival caps off the weekend event on Sunday, May 24, featuring an all-day, self-guided tour of food and wine facilities beginning at the Port Townsend Food Co-op and moving on to Mt. Townsend Creamery and a half-dozen other locations before ending at Hama Hama Seafood on Hood Canal.
