Preparing for and managing emergencies while at sea is the topic of this month's Wooden Boat Wednesday, set to take place at noon, Jan. 20 at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St.
Featured speaker is Erik Wennstrom, a rescue boat skipper who plans to take audience members through what went wrong during his experiences at sea and what could have been done differently in several scenarios, with the goal of considering some changes in boat handling and how to become more resourceful in the event an emergency does occur.
Wennstrom currently mentors the Salish Rescue Team, a youth group that is becoming involved in on-the-water rescue.
