The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is asking the public for assistance in locating the suspect, or suspects, who allegedly poached a bull elk near the Brinnon School.

According to WDFW Sgt. Kit Rosenberger, an officer from the department responded to the incident Aug. 16, but it is believed the crime occurred Aug. 15.

“The head of the bull elk and the quarters of the animal had been taken,” Rosenberger said. “It is believed to have been shot the evening (or) night of Aug. 15.”

As of Aug. 20, the WDFW did not have any suspects in the poaching incident.

“We are currently seeking assistance form the public to assist us in identifying any suspects or vehicles that may have been involved,” Rosenberger said.

Anyone who might have information regarding the incident is encouraged to called the WDFW at 360-902-2928, visit the department’s website at wdfw.wa.gov by clicking on violations, or text WDFWTIP to 847411.
