Candidates for seats on the Jefferson County Public Hospital District 2 and Chimacum School District boards are to meet and be questioned by the public at a pre-primary forum at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 12 at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, Chimacum.
The first half of the evening is to be devoted to hospital board candidates Cheri Van Hoover, Bruce McComas and Bernie Donanberg. The second half features Jack McKay, Jared Shepherd and Wilma Hackman, the three candidates for Chimacum School Director, Position 5.
For nonpartisan races, a primary is held only when there are more than two candidates.
The Aug. 1 primary is to winnow the field in these races to the top two vote getters. All candidates running for election this year have been invited to attend the forum, be introduced and meet the public.
Scott Wilson, former owner of the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader, is to serve as moderator, taking questions from the floor and as well as written questions.
During each segment of the forum, each candidate is to give an opening statement and, after questions, a closing statement.
Contact Sheila Murphy, Jefferson County League of Women Voters unit chair, at 531-1221.
