Democrats to lead sign clearing effort

Jefferson County Democrats and other campaigners are to fan out all over Jefferson County on Wednesday morning, Nov. 9, to retrieve as many campaign yard signs as possible.

The local party is working with Republican candidates, non-partisan candidates, and ballot measure committees to collect the signs in one big sweep, according to Deborah Pedersen, party member.

Signs are to be brought to the parking lot behind Jefferson County Democratic Campaign Headquarters, 2120 W Sims Way, Port Townsend. Representatives of the campaigns can pick up signs there on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 9.

According to Washington Administrative Code, all signs must be removed from along roadways within 10 days of an election.

Anyone who wants to save a sign as a keepsake should bring it in on the night of the election night.

“We know that people get tired of looking at yard signs, so we want to clean up the campaign clutter as quickly as we can,” Bruce Cowan, chair of the Jefferson County Democrats, said in a press release.

If someone has questions, or if a campaign sign is picked up that a person wanted to keep, leave a message at 360-774-0092.
