Chimacum Cowboys football might have had a tough loss to Cedar Park Christian, but their coach said he “can’t cry too much.”

“We knew what we were in for,” said coach Chris Storm of the tough team from Bothell.

The Cowboys lost 7-47, but Storm said the athletes kept with Cedar Park Christian during the first quarter.

“They played well - it was reflected in the game,” Storm said. “We hung with them for the first quarter where we scored and had big yards.”

However, Storm said there were mistakes, and those mistakes cost the Cowboys touchdowns.

“The kids played super hard,” Story said.

Leading up to the game, the Cowboys did not have much practice or conditioning, due to the smoke in the area. With that, their beginning of the year jamboree was also cancelled.

Looking at their next match up at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at South Whidbey, Storm said he is planning on moving some of the athletes around to different positions.

“We will be a lot better matched,” he forecasted.

Although there were some film troubles to get full stats of the players, Storm said a highlight came from junior Wyatt Pennington, who threw for the Cowboys lone touchdown.

He complimented senior Logan Storm for his gain in yards, as well.

“They all played well,” Storm said.
