The Port Townsend City Council voted unanimously Sept. 19 to allow the city manager to enter into a letter of understanding with community land trust Homeward Bound to review the construction feasibility of a 5,000-square-foot Discovery Road property.
The council designated that property May 2, along with Beech Street and Cherry Street properties, for affordable housing. The letter allows Homeward Bound to take ownership once its review is complete. The letter includes a contingency allowing the city to reclaim ownership of the property if it is not developed with affordable housing.
