The Steilacoom II is out of service on the Port Townsend-Keystone route Friday night due to the weather. At 6:15 p.m. Friday Washington State Ferries reported that due to deteriorating weather conditions, the 6:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. sailing from Port Townsend and the 7:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. sailing from Keystone have been canceled.
The ferry was out of service Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday due to a mechanical issue, but that was fixed and the plucky Steilacoom II resumed service this morning.
But with high winds expected tonight, WSF pulled the boat from the Admiralty Inlet crossing. The detour option involves a four to six hour trip using the Edmonds/Kingston and maybe the Mukilteo/Clinton routes for travel to and from the Olympic Peninsula and/or Whidbey Island.
