Poul Oxenbol passed away July 30, 2018 in Port Townsend, Washington after a long health battle.

Born and raised in Denmark, his parents owned a farm equipment dealership and machine shop. From an early age Poul was very interested in the family business. After completing a machinist apprenticeship, he worked in the family business until he was drafted into the Danish Army where he served with the allied troops in occupied Germany after World War II.

After discharge from the army, he graduated college with an engineering degree and was hired by an international company F.L. Smidth in Copenhagen. Poul’s knowledge of designing, building, and operating cement plants led to extensive travel all over the world, both with and without the family. In 1960 he was hired by Kaiser Cement in Hawaii. Later Kaiser Cement moved Poul to Apple Valley, California, then Okinawa, and once more to Hawaii where he became manager of their cement plant. Some years later Poul returned to his former employer F.L. Smidth in New Jersey as Vice President of Engineering until retirement.

After retiring Poul accepted many jobs as a technical expert consultant which left him time for his lifelong passion of sailing as well as RVing on both the East and West Coast.

Poul is survived by his wife of 63 years, two sons, 2 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday August 25, 2 p.m. at Quimper Village, 3105 Sage Lane, Port Townsend.
