Philip Wilkins Flynn

Philip Wilkins Flynn passed away peacefully at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, WA on Sept 23, 2018. He was 90 years old.

Philip was born on Nov. 10, 1927 to Henry Colman Clifton and Mercedes Rose Wilkins in Portland, OR. He graduated from Sacramento State University and then served in the Army, specifically the Counter-Intelligence Corps. He married Janet Ayres Jameson in Santa Barbara on April 16, 1955.

The couple lived in Sacramento, CA until 1990. During that time, Philip was General Manager of the Wilkins Draying Company, a family trucking business. Upon retirement, being very civic-minded, he presided over both the Sacramento County Taxpayers League and Arden Fire District.

In addition, Philip was President of the Regional Transit Board and was involved in bringing light rail to the Sacramento area.

In 1990, Philip and Janet moved to Washington where they designed and built a house on Marrowstone Island.

He continued to live in that house after Janet passed away at the end of 1996.

He then continued his passion for civic duty which included getting public water onto Marrowstone as well as being a successful President of the Jefferson County food banks.

Philip is survived by his 2 daughters, Adrian Flynn Cameron of Lincoln, CA and Erin Carrie of Roseville, CA; as well as 2 sons, Philip of Scottsdale, AZ and Brian of Buellton, CA. He also has 1 grandson, Connor, and 2 granddaughters, Alyssa and Jessi Rae of Buellton, CA.

Private inurnment will be at the Soundview Cemetery on Marrowstone Island.
