Michael Earl Larson

Michael Earl Larson may have been born in Roseburg, Oregon on June 22, 1946, but he always considered Irondale his home port. His many friends and relatives living in the area continued to be his lifelong support group.

Mike graduated from Chimacum High School in 1964, where he loved playing football and sharing good times. Joining the Navy shortly out of high school gave Mike the opportunity to see the world and develop a love for travel.

Mike continued to live in the Pacific Northwest after leaving the service, working as security police for Bangor and Pan Am. He also worked in facilities management with Highline College and later at Pierce College.

Mike was briefly married, but then divorced, finally settling down in Gig Harbor. He loved to travel all over the world with his soulmates, Richard and Linda Noyer. He treasured all of his fishing expeditions with Tommy.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Malloy, and half-brother, Gene Larson. He is survived by his two sisters Kathy (John) Whitney of Everson, Washington and Marianne (Paul) Walters of Port Townsend; Tommy Ahrens, who was the young lad he embraced as his own; numerous nieces and nephews, and all of the Irondale brats (you know who you are).

A small celebration of life in the form of a potluck picnic at one of the beaches Mike loved is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11 at Lower Oak Bay Park.
