It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret “Chris” Allen, on April 17, 2018 in Port Townsend, WA. Chris is preceded in death by parents Holger Dankse and Maureen June (Feldmann) Christensen, and siblings Marilyn Clyde, Karen Adams, and David Christensen.

Chris was born on October 24, 1934 in Kensal, ND. She moved with her family as a young girl to Reseda, CA. After graduating from high school, she attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA, earning her AA degree. In 1955, she married Paul Soule Allen, and together they moved to Torrance, CA. Paul’s employment with Philco Ford Corporation in Newport Beach brought them to the (then) small town of Orange in 1962, where they raised their family and resided until 1990.

Chris subsequently moved to Trabuco Canyon, CA in 1993, to Applegate, OR in 2008, and to Port Townsend, WA in 2012. In 2006, Chris met her soulmate, Paul Charles Hamilton. They shared a love of travel, music, humor, and art, but most of all, each other. We are forever grateful for the years of happiness they had together.

Chris had a natural eye for beauty and loved home decorating. In the mid 1970’s she began a career in interior design that she excelled at. Floral design and gardening were natural extensions of her gifts and no matter where she lived, up sprang ponds, pathways, flowers, birds, and whimsical art. She was also a talented seamstress. In addition to making many of our clothes, she often made outfits for our dolls, although the outfits tended to spend more time on the family Siamese cats than they ever did on the dolls! It seemed that everything she created was magical. She enjoyed playing bridge all her adult life and greatly valued the many enduring friendships that accompanied it. She especially loved her home that bordered Fort Townsend State Park and its trails that she hiked daily with her beloved Jake, ‘the Wonder Dog.’

More than anything, Chris loved her family. She was the wonderful supporter and confidante every person should have in a perfect world, and a true rock to her daughters, grandchildren, and great granddaughters.

Chris is survived by her husband Paul C. Hamilton; daughters Paula McGilloway (Tom), Lori Kott (John); grandchildren Jillian Kennedy, Holly Campbell, Chelsea, Kyle, and Chloe Kott; and greatgrandchildren Kylie and Madelynn Kennedy.

The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Chris Geidt and all the wonderful staff at Jefferson Community Hospital for the exceedingly compassionate care given during her illness and passing.

“May the winds of Heaven blow softly

And whisper in your ear

How much we love and miss you

And wish that you were here.”
