Charles Urgel Legault

Charles Urgel Legault passed away May 21, 2018 in Poulsbo, WA. Chuck was born February 10, 1928 in Ione, Washington to Francis and Florence Bromley Legault. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1946 and was requested to participate in the Army Air Forces band as a French Horn player. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1947. Following his Army service, Chuck attended Gonzaga University, graduating in 1952 with degrees in philosophy and music. While at Gonzaga, he participated in the Gonzaga Glee Club. 

Chuck taught music in several different schools, including Coulee Dam and Mercer Island in Washington, but found his home and true passion teaching in Quilcene where he taught music from 1963 until his retirement in 1987. He made an impact on the lives of all his students there, both with his passion for music and his sense of humor.

Chuck married Shirley Summers in 1949 and had five children, Kathleen, Cecile, Paul, Steven, and Robert. He married Janet Scholz Powell in 1988 and was a loving parent to Jennifer and AJ. 

He was actively involved in politics and was a strong supporter and negotiator for the Washington Education Association. He loved theater and delighted audiences with his parts in Brinnon Community Theater. Chuck also loved to sing and was a member of the Kitsap Chordsmen Chorus for many years. 

Chuck is survived by his wife Jan; his children Cecile Greenway, Paul Legault, Steve Legault, Jennifer Scholz Hughes, and AJ Scholz; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life will be held July 28, 2018 at Kariotis Community Club House in Bremerton WA at 2:30 p.m.
