This Sunday, Lisa Lanza brings together the cream of Port Townsend’s young musicians and some of their equally talented elders to present the seventh annual Memorial Day Weekend Concert in support of Ugandan AIDS orphans. The concert begins at 4 p.m., May 24 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1120 Walker St.

Performing music by Gilbert and Sullivan, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Popper, Hasse, Ernst, Rossini and Sondheim, as well as Argentine tangos, are pianist Lanza, soprano Diana Bond, violinist Amelia Grant, cellist Madelyn Kowalski, trombonist Ryan Clark, violinist Marly Erickson, soprano Ayla Favati, soprano Sophia Parkhurst, the Singers in the Rain men’s chorus, the All City Choir and Bella Jack.

This year’s concert supports 13 new orphans as well as the four remaining young people from the original group. These children, sponsored by Grace Lutheran Church, are dependent on the generosity of Port Townsend–area residents for their educations. A $15 donation is suggested.
