A two-night-only event will bring to one of American folk’s godfathers, Bob Dylan.
Dillon Porter will play the part of the rolling stone musician, after he crashed his motorcycle on the back-country roads of Woodstock, New York. After returning from a tour in England riddled with drugs, he will face an interrogation as he sits stranded.
Dylan will meditate over his memories of his upbringing in Minnesota, as well as Woody Guthrie (George Rezendes).
During the runtime, “Dillon on Dylan” will feature epic ballads such as “Desolation Row,” “When the Ships Come In,” “It’s All Right Ma” and “Lonesome Death of Haddie Carroll.”
Joining Porter and Rezendes, who will also perform “Pastures of Plenty” and “Jesus Christ” as Guthrie, on stage will be Hanna Lose-Frahn as Joan Baez, who was a friend and writing partner of Dylan’s. In character, she will perform “A Hard Rain is Gonna Fall.”
Both performances will take place at 7:30 p.m.y, Aug. 29 and 30 at the Key City Public Theatre. Tickets are $20 and are available at the box office, online at keycitypublictheatre.org, or by phone at 360-385-KCPT.
