There was no curtain to draw or costumes to don - though one DJ took the liberties - Chetzemoka Park was stirring with music and dance.
Key City Public Theatre patrons, artists and volunteers were drawn together for a dance party and mixer Aug. 14. Complete with drinks and cupcakes, the event was to celebrate the 60th year of operations of the Port Townsend-based company.
Key City Public Theater Artistic Director Denise Winter said the free event was to thank the community for support shown throughout its many years.
Key City Public Theatre will finish out its Shakespeare in the Park performances of “Hamlet,” at 6 p.m. Aug. 24, 25 and 26.
The next production the company has on its schedule is Sharr White’s “Annapurna” in October. Directed by Connor Zeft, the two-person play is about a reunion after 20 years between an ex-wife, Emma, and her ex-husband Ulysses, who are living in a grungy trailer park, dependent on oxygen tanks and he is dedicated to scribe his magnum opus.
“Annapurna” was performed in Los Angeles by married couple Nick Offerman, of “Park and Recreation,” and comedian, actress and singer Megan Mullally.
