Joy at Mudville at Finnriver

During this weekend’s farm tour, Joy in Mudville will provide music in the covered outdoor pavilion overlooking Finnriver Orchard and Cider Garden on Saturday, Sept. 15. The Farm Tour Dance Party will also feature cider on-tap, complemented by Finnriver’s house-made local bratwurst, salads, Dented Buoy wood-fired pizzas, La crepe de Quimper crepes, and Fiddlehead Creamy vegan ice cream.

The party will begin at 6 p.m. and will run until around 9 p.m. at the Finnriver, 124 Center Road, Chimacum. The event is free and open to the public, but to help support live music, Finnriver raises their draft pours by $1 during these music events.

With more than 30 years of experience in teaching and leading writing workshops across the country, Quinn's writing was published in Writer's Digest, Psychology Today, Literature Circles and Response, Practical Aspects of Authentic Assessment, Instructor, and Washington 129 Anthology.

PT Shorts was developed by the Port Townsend Arts Commission and produced by Key City Public Theatre in 2006. Since 2014, it has been hosted by the Northwind Arts Center every third Thursday in downtown at 7 p.m.

The event is open and free to the all at William James Bookseller, 829 Water St.

Liberal Toons

Political cartoonist and feminist Gayle Brauner, will feature a show of a selection of her works for a 18-and-older audience from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 19, at the Port Townsend Public Library, 1220 Lawrence St.

“Since I’m now a retired teacher and insurance agent,” Brauner said, “I have more freedom to be boldly expressive, without fears of losing a job or becoming socially isolated.” Brauner's goal of bringing the “Liberal Political Cartoons Traveling Show” to Port Townsend is to provide a space for civil discussion about important issues facing the country and communities. “Seeing our international honor disintegrate is heartbreaking,” Brauner said in a press release.

As a Port Angeles resident, Brauner also finds solace in trying out ink and brush, watercolor, wall murals and school bulletin boards. After the 2016 election, she set upon expressing concerns in the form of political art, as well as participating in politically motivated marches and events in Seattle.

Brauner invites any who come to bring other cartoons to share and discuss. The event is not sponsored by the library.
